Maine fantasy Carousel Tides by Sharon Lee hits stores 11/2 from Baen. Book launch 10/30 in Old Orchard Beach. Snippet week starts: 3, 2, 1

No matter how many words they use to say it, people only ever leave home for two reasons. Money, that’s one. Love — that’s the other.

Me, I was worried about my grandmother. Worried enough to risk a homecoming.

Mind you, the crisis Bonny Pepperidge couldn’t settle with her off-hand while cooking breakfast wasn’t likely to roll over for me.

I’m only an Archer; the Pepperidges have operated the Archers Beach merry-go-round since right around the dawn of civilization, Maine time.

“Morning,” I answered. “Pleasant day for a walk.”

He laughed and jerked his head at the fog-shrouded ocean. “No going out in this, and by the time it burns off, the tide’ll have turned.”

Here ends Day One of the Epic Carousel Tides tweet-a-thon.  Tune in bright and early tomorrow for the next installment!

While you’re waiting, Carousel Tides can be pre-ordered from Amazon.com, from BN, your local independent bookstore, or downloaded electronically from Baen Webscriptions.

Got it for my iPhone and half way through it. Paper copy will arrive later. Phone charging at the moment while I use the big computer. I should finish it tonight. :-)

Glad I can see all these Tweets in one place and all at once. Now am thinking I might buy "Fifty Years at Gombe" by Jane Goodall. The sequel to "Forty Years at Gombe" Buying off Amazon at the same time as Carousel Tides. Maybe I'll wait for the Autobiography of Mark Twain. We'll see. Found a new author in the NY Times Best Seller list; one Debby Macomber if I've got the first name right. Might not have the last name spelled right either. She writes Harlequin type romances (I've never read one). Two caught my eye. "Mrs. Miracle" one of her latest. Macomber churns out books like you wouldn't believe. A kind of re do of "Miracle on 34th St" And a humorous one called "Shirley Goodness and Mercy". About three angels called Shirley, Goodness and Mercy. Funny!

I left home to go to college but was such an airhead in the day that I didn't have any expectation particularly to find a career (money) or a husband (love). I was kind of retarded. About half the junior class sprouted engangement rings. I asked "what is this?" Gave me a life long dislike for diamonds.

I read one of her books and was not impressed enough to get any others. Wish I could remember the title, but it was borrowed and long since returned.
