Edited to add: Problem solved, and many thanks to everyone who helped!

I can no longer speak directly on Facebook -- my "what's on your mind" box vanished sometime between the last time I used it (within the week, I'm pretty sure) and now. Apparently blog entries are still being accepted.

Technology. . .

As I think I commented on the fb post, it's a recent change. There's a bit called 'share' right at the top of your news feed. The bit you want is 'status' though there are links, etc.

At the top of your FB Profile Page, do as Lauretta says: click on Status, next to Share, your text box will magically reappear

You gotta watch 'em every second

I work with people like that, who make changes without warning you, which wouldn't be a problem if their penchant for innovation were matched by sufficient competence.

I got bit by this too

I found out that if you click on Status, next to Share, your text box will magically reappear.

Some 'improvement' huh?

I thought so too on mine, but then I realized what they did with it. Under the tabs that say Wall, Photo, Info, etc., there's a line labeled "Share". If you click on "Status" after that, it should bring up the box for you to post to your wall.

It's really stupid, since theoretically, the point of Facebook is for you to post your status...hiding it like that is counterproductive.

Every time Facebook "improves," I am reminded of what an abusive relationship it is.

(they fkcu with us, we say "well, maybe we'll get used to this, too...")

*sighs*

What everyone else said. Took me a bit to realize what happened, too. You'll also find they're rearranging the profile pages. Right now that's opt-in only, but knowing FB...

Facebook

I don't like Facebook. It begins to gobble up all ones time of which I have very little at a time. BUT I did go see the new and improved edition as advertised by Mark Zuckerberg himself on 60 minutes. Managed to find that dratted "share" button.

An expert on 60 minutes predicts a war between Google and Facebook. Facebook is good for communicating with people whose e-mail address you don't have. So instead of gmail I think. But then Google does other thinks too. So .....?
