Today, it Rained Like Hell™.  It was also Unseasonably Warm.  The snow is gone.  When I left for work this morning, the surface of our crushed gravel driveway was the consistency of wet beach sand.  There were branches down, and though I took the high road, through Benton and Fairfield, there were many deep and treacherous puddles between me and the day-job.

Happily, I arrived safely, if soaked to the knees, and put in a light day of work, it being study/exam week.

After work, we took Hexampuma to the vet, as previously arranged.  He weighs more or less the same, which is at least not going backward.  We shall have to feed him more wet food, but are apparently on the right track.  Steve, in a Bold Experiment this evening, found that Hex will happily consume his vitamins as part of his Extra! Special! Gooshy! Food!  — which is good.

I got to spend a little time with George this evening and now it’s time to call it a day.

G’night.

Grand-Uncle Daav nodded gravely, which Grand-Aunt would scold him for, were she present.

Thank you for posting the one line sneak peek. It's been a long hateful day and line made me smile. Hummm, wonder why Grand-Uncle Daav would get fussed at for nodding? Sigh... another reason for August to hurry up and get here beside it being 12 degrees and falling!

If you're missing the snow, we have some we can spare here in Minne-snow-ta! The pile on my front lawn is at least 5' (apparently it was a convenient dumping spot for the plow) and the drift against my patio door is probably about 30". And it's not going anywhere any time soon - high today was 6, and tomorrow looks to be more of the same - might get all the way up to 11!

Mary

PS - good to hear Daav is still around in George!

Have you considered moving? 6 degrees. How awful is that? A new move in showed up in a nearby house in my neighborhood. She moved from MN. But one needs to be able to make a living here which is hard. It's a very small town.

That actually sounds like a proper snow for this time of year. And, had it been twenty-five degrees cooler, our all-day downpour would have been a December blizzard. Today, we're supposed to have maybe an inch, but, it's already warmer than the projected high on the day, so I'm not so much believing in that...

Yes, yes, very glad to hear from Grand Uncle Daav since he's my favorite character. A survivor for sure. I think that Grand Aunt Kareen wouldn't like him to nod because as I remember that's a Terran thing. But I can't remember the Liaden equivalent.

You need some Wellies from LL Bean.

I heard it was 80 degrees in southern CA today. Here it was around 65. Unusually warm here for Dec.

I've always wondered: Why does anyone stay in Buffalo?

Great Aunt Kareen? Wouldn't Kareen be Grandmother? IMHO, Great Aunt either refers Aelli or Kamele.

Why do I wish that I had been less right ...

Let's see ... I was thinking in literal accuracy in family relationships, but mayby you were thinking in a more honorific sense, when anyone a couple of generations (or more), not direct ancestor, yet still kin is "great-uncle" or "great-aunt". Yeah, that's the ticket. So instead of being limited to a child of Pat Rin, George could be any of the Korval halflings ...

Brom (hoping this quiets the sulks ... although having the auctor invent a new word is never a bad thing ... "ooh, shiny!")

Forgot to mention Hexapuma. Crossing fingers for weight gain.
