Went to breakfast, the grocery store; stopped at the post office where several surprises awaited us, including a fine set of cat cookie cutters for Steve.

We visited various folks around town, remembered this time to get handmade fragrant soap at Barrels (and bagels! and apple butter!  and pumpkin butter!) and so to home, where bean soup and sweet potato fries were had for lunch, and some nigs and nub-ends of chores were completed.  There’s dishes to do, and the cat fountain to disassemble and clean, and then I believe. . .yes.  I do believe we’ll take a couple hours off.

Steve and I both have a new pair of slippers (ahhhh, new slippers), and a toy.  Each of us also has received a pair of power gloves from a kind friend.  Also, I was given in proxy for Kate a Google sweatshirt, to replace hers, ruined by ‘gaster blood.

*smiles*

I hope everybody is having a lovely day and will have a lovely weekend, whether simple day or holiday.

I'm feeding my brother his Christmas dinner today, rather than tomorrow for a variety of selfish reasons - one being the Doctor Who marathon on BBC America tomorrow. If I do say so myself, the turkey breast turned out very well (nothing to do with my culinary skills, really - they're hard to mess up). And the pumpkin pie just came out of the oven - we'll have that a bit later.

Hope everyone has a happy and peaceful holiday weekend!

Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays

Just wanted to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. I will probably be too busy to check-in tomorrow.

Lunch & dessert with my family during the day - 1.5 hr drive to east coast and south. Followed by dessert with my husband's family in the evening - 1.5 return trip + another 45 minutes west. Spent most of the day baking 4 pies for my share of offerings since it looks like all the immediate families will be home in both locations. 3 Lemon Meringue and 1 Pecan Pies are busy cooling and the dishwasher is working overtime.

Stopped in a Laid Back Larry's earlier in the day. Tomorrow, Christmas Day, Valerie, prop, will be the only thing open in town. She will stay until everyone has bought their coffees, teas, pastries and vegetarian or vegan groceries. This afternoon valiantly making vegan chocolate pies with walnuts. Valerie caters to the around 350 Best Friends employees in town and others too.

This evening a Christmas party with my second family. Delicious vegetarian and vetan food. I am vegan myself which means no animal products. Vegan food can be utterly delicious in the hands of expert cooks....which I am not....so glad to be at the party where expert cooks emerged from the kitchen with one delicacy after another. Bean soup and sweet potato fries sounds very yummy. And Gus would just like you to know: It's hard for dogs to be vegetarian so he's glad I don't try that. Dogs can't eat cat food either by the way, and cats can't eat dog food. Long story. If anyone's interested in the details I'd be glad to explain.

Merry Christmas to all,
C and Gus.
