It's bad enough to wake up with one earworm. This morning, I have three.

Let's sing rounds!

¡Fray Felipe!¡Fray Felipe!
¿Duermes tú? ¿Duermes tú?
Tocan las campanas, Tocan las campanas
Tan, tan tan. Tan, tan, tan

Frère Jacques, Frère Jacques,
Dormez-vous? Dormez-vous?
Sonnez les matines! Sonnez les matines!
Ding, dang, dong. Ding, dang, dong.

Are you sleeping? Are you sleeping?
Brother John, Brother John,
Morning bells are ringing, Morning bells are ringing.
Ding, dang, dong, Ding, dang, dong.

Which I sing to my daughter as:
I love baby, I love baby
Yes I do! Yes I do!
Mommy's little sweetheart, Mommy's little sweetheart
Meri Lyn, Meri Lyn :)

Personally, I'd rather have that than my current problem, which is seeing Plants vs. Zombies every time I close my eyes. (Curse you, Nintendo DS!)

I hear thunder! I hear thunder!
Hark! Don't you? Hark! Don't you?
Pitter-patter raindrops. Pitter-patter raindrops.
I'm wet through! So are you!

Bruder Jakob, Bruder Jakob,
schlaefst du noch, schlaefst du noch?
Hoerst du nicht die Glocken, hoerst du nicht die Glocken,
bim bam bong, bim bam bong.

That is the German version.
I am always fascinated by the different onomatopoetic sounds different languages use for what are essentially the same sounds (bell size and composition etc may vary, of course).

I'm battling this with Warren Zevon

Much as I like Werewolves of London, I think Roland the Headless
Thompson Gunner may surpass it. How did I *miss* this one? I know
we'd just come back to the States when Dad retired from the State
Dept, but MAN...my parents were folkies and they didn't mind rock,
they would have listened to this stuff.

Feeling like she's discovered a treasure trove

"Roland" is inspired.

I like "Werewolves of London," because, well...howling. I mean, really, how can you not like a song with howling? And "I'd like to meet his tailor" is worth the price of admission.

I also like -- well, best not to get started. If you're just discovering the depth of Warren Zevon's work, you're in for all kinds of treats.

Alouette,
gentille Alouette,

I was just thinking about this song today! Couldn't remember it. Always confused the lyrics with Aloutte, in fact, so thanks for them both.
