1. Spent last night in the Sleep Lab, getting fitted for a mask and then being experimented upon to find the optimum flow of air to keep the passages open. Not as easy as I expected. My body considers forced air an intruder at best; an enemy to be actively beat off at worst. Also, panic attacks in the Sleep Lab? Not recommended.

2. It snowed last night. And today.

3. The mass market edition of Mouse and Dragon has been added to the Big Pile of Lee and Miller books coming out this year — October.

4. The proofs for the mass market edition of Saltation have landed.

5. But before I do them, I do the last pass through “Intelligent Design,” which has only now come back to me from Steve.

Your number 1? That's me. As soon as I saw a picture of that forced air contraption, I knew I'd never get any treatment for sleep disorders. I can't have stuff over my face. I can't even snorkel, anymore.

It's interesting that you felt threatened by the forced air. I was actually thinking that would make it easier to be trapped by the mask, since part of my fear is not having enough air. But I can totally see how it freaked you out.

I hope something helps you. I've been sleeping better for nearly a year now, and I can't describe how wonderful it is. Keep trying!

I'm sorry I don't know more bout sleep labs. Can you get a 2nd opinion from another lab.

On the writing front everything looks great to me. All those mass market paperbacks going out. Crossing fingers and paws for big bucks.....

Baen seems a much better deal than the previous one. Are able to do a whole lot more.
C. and doggies all with paws crossed.

I totally understand the panic attack at the sleep clinic. When I went in and was fitted for a nose only mask, I almost came apart. The nice folks then fitted me for a full face mask and all of my anxiety disappeared...I slept fine the rest of the night. Well, once they stopped fiddling with the air pressure anyway. Now, 8 years later, I have trouble sleeping without a mask on.

Other than knowing that I'm sooo glad I don't have that kind of problem sleeping, I can only think that I wonder if the air pressure wasn't too high?
