Desks have surfaces? Really?

About the only time I see the surface of mine is when Miss Kitzie (whose cute baby picture appears in my icon) decides to clear space for herself. She plops down then rolls over onto her back, pushing everything out of her way as she rolls. This is a surprisingly effective way of clearing space. She did it with a freshly poured mug of hot tea a couple days ago. Luckily I managed to catch it before my desk became tea-soaked.

Thank you for the reminder to pre-register for Chattacon. It's semi-local for me, but I don't always attend. I will be there this time though, because Certain Persons are on the guest list.

As a Barfly, I have tried to attend both Chattacon and Libertycon as the (somewhat) closest cons to which other Barflies also make a practice of attending.

Be sure to check the Chattanooga weather report before packing - my experiences have varied from shirtsleeve weather to breakout the Arctic gear (well, almost!).

The Choo Choo is not a normal con layout - the main building holds the front desk, restaurants & bars, craft/souvenir shops and a room for the art show. The guest rooms - if not in the train cars - are in two outbuildings. Most of the con rooms are in a third outbuilding, and the con suite & games room is in a fourth outbuilding beyond the parking lot. Although there will be a tram/shuttle bus, expect a lot of walking from building to building.

Last time I was at Chattacon was during the second cycle of the con being at the Read House, (was the last time I saw Bob Asprin, come to think of it,) but I've been around long enough that I remember the bad old days of Chattacon at the Clarion. So yes, I know about the weather issues. At least with coming over from Huntsville I no longer have to worry about whether the weather will close the highway over Monteagle Mountain.

Haven't stayed at the Choo-Choo before now, but I expect I'll manage to cope.

It'll probably be cooler in Maine than Chattanooga that time of year, and since I'm considering driving i guess we'll bring our spring coats and be OK.

The last Chattacon I made it to, it rained every day, & the temperatures were in the 20s. Of course, that may well *be* Spring in Maine. [weg]
