THE Hollywood adaptation of Philip Pullman’s trilogy His Dark Materials, in which two children do battle with an evil, all-powerful church, is being rewritten to remove anti-religious overtones.
?!?! What happened to freedom of religion, freedom of speech, and separation of Church and State? It reminds me of the NPR gal who didn't want to allow something for which she MIGHT get censured, to air, so she _self-regulated_. Has the "Patriot Act" been used so much more than we have been allowed to know, to create this atmosphere of intimidation and fear? I feel like the McCarthey hearings (the John's Commission in Florida) are back in session: secret, unbroadcasted, yet ubiquitous. joythree
