Slow day at the day-job, waiting for the people who make decisions to make some so I can do what needs done.

Back at home, two more chapbooks compiled and converted (Variations Three, and Changeling: AitLU #6, for those who are counting), leaving me with just six more to compile. So that’s what? Twenty-five, told all. Then we’ll see if I’m tough enough to do The Tomorrow Log.

I have my talk for Thursday night in hand, the Trees of Maine are indulging in their annual spring effort to kill me, and the galleys for Ghost Ship have just landed. I’m guessing those are mine to do, since Steve just finished turning The Crystal Variation galleys (1184 pages of Crystal Soldier, Crystal Dragon, and Balance of Trade) around in truly heroic fashion.

At least Ghost Ship should be the last — no, I’m wrong. The mass market for Mouse and Dragon got added to October’s line-up. So! we’ll be seeing the galleys for that, bye-n-bye.

The fun? Never stops.

And! In celebration of the perseverance of the Trees of Maine, I’m going to go, I dunno — sit on the couch and read.

G’night.

Since I have already bought the eARC of GHOST SHIP, I can possess myself in patience for the dead tree version to actually come out...and get my signed copies from Uncle Hugo's. Speaking of which, and just because I'm being nosy, how many actual pre-orders were racked up before the 30 April deadline? If, that is, you know and want to share (gloat) because I hope it was lots and lots and a good start on getting GHOST SHIP on a SF bestseller list! After I have my signed First Edition copies in hand, I hope it has to go immediately into a second printing!

Dunno. But! You are not the first to ask the question. I shall Enquire of Mr. Blyly.

Oooo, I'm sorry the Trees of Maine dislike you ... Hope the reading makes up for it!

*Is envious.*

My desktop is almost dead so I'm setting up a new laptop. Windows 7 is (mostly) telling me you can't get there from here. When it isn't telling me things that are even more unwelcome, like "we no longer have an email program - buy one".

Doncha just love new stuff? Sigh.

One caveat on the new stuff, tho. I had my morning caffeine in a pristine, elegant new "I Dare" mug from Cafe Press. Quite smug I was. Yupper, quite smug.

Hmm, perhaps you should remind the Trees of Maine that you are, via your work in several regards, clearly "tree friendly"; they should cut you some slack. Aside from your negotiations with the trees, for what it's worth, the Ghost Ship ARC was really damn good. Happy trails, and write more...like many folks I'm buying the ebooks of all the h/c I already have, figuring it'll encourage more writing! :)

Hee! I just saw GBS recently at a lovely small venue--not even sold out.

I just acquired Barenaked Ladies CD with "One Week" on it. I've been playing it again and again. Full of pop culture references, I love this trio of lines in one of the rapping sections:

Like Kurosawa, I made mad films
Okay I don't make films
But if I did, I'd have a samurai

But have you heard this version (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AiKvrz_WGGE)? :)

Nice! It would probably be even better if I'd seen Sailor Moon, but still fun.

I wish that the trees would keep their sex lives to themselves and not shove them up our noses.
I'm entering spring zombiedom.

After 10 or 15 years of allergy shots, including some minor reactions, I had to stop taking them, due to other health concerns. There is still a minor amount of pollen floating about, plus mold and dust, also cat hair. For the most part there is no severe problem but I remeber it all too well.

A church leader I knew used to rave about the beauties of goldenrod! Haven't heard much since the fall I stood up and gave thanks for cold weather killing the blasted stuff. And there was, not exactly applause, but a general murmur of appreciation.

I'll bet you'd a lot rather have too many galleys to read than too few. (And your fans would rather you did, too. :)

Like almost everything else I can think of, this is not an unmixed blessing, since Proofing Galleys Time comes directly out of Writing Time.
