...or at least half off.

Packed up the last load of embroidered shirts. I *really don't* think SRM will be offering embroidered shirts any more. Something's going on with the dynamic of the place we're getting the embroidery done. Either a job meltdown (in *this* economy? In Central Maine? How could such a thing be?) or a marriage, um, readjustment. Or both. In any case the embroidery business side of it all has suffered from it, to the point where results are Not Assured.

After dinner -- Steve made ham with duck sauce, asparagus, and mashed potatoes (yum) -- we took a look at _The Medallion_. I was pleased -- not stupid-but-funny like _The Tuxedo_ , the story actually has some layering and some resonances. It also has plot holes you can drive a 747 through, but, hey -- it's a Jackie Chan movie.

I finished reading _Ill Wind_, and had a great deal of fun with it. I'll pick up the second Weather Warden book when it comes out. Plucked _In Camelot's Shadow_ out of the pile to take with me tomorrow to the hair salon. Monday looks a trifle full -- hair cut, the gym-thing (which I skipped all last week, slugabed that I am), the post office, and back home to finish moving SRM's '03 fiscal year's files into a banker's box and putting 04's files into the file cabinet where they belong. Woo-hoo.

A first reader -- the toughest, I will say, of the first readers -- reports having a good time with _Crystal Soldier_ and assures one that it is too a book. This is a load off my shoulders. Because of having written most of it when I couldn't stay awake between sentences, I had no feel for the shape of the book at all. Very weird. Never happened before. Hope to *ghod* it never happens again. Some few small things suggested in the name of clarity and consistency, but nothing that's not easily addressed. We still, of course, need to see what the agent thinks, but I am much encouraged.

Cat report: Mozart curled up on the rug before the file cabinet, Max! under the co-pilot's chair in Steve's room, Patia on the rug in the kitchen, Scrabble on the blue chair in the living room.
