Well, it snowed, and it snowed, and it snowed, AND. IT. SNOWED. All day it snowed: pretty, well-spaced flakes falling politely out of a uniformly dull gray sky. And all that snowing amounted to ...less than an inch on the ground. The sun, he poked his face out from behind the clouds at two-minutes-to-dark, lighting up the verymost toppest branches of the trees.

The important things have been done. Max! got his morning pill, despite his best efforts. Patia has been spoiled. Scrabble has had several opportunities to supervise, including overseeing [livejournal.com profile] kinzel's installation of the blue wreath outside the front door, and doing spot checks of the laundry. Mozart has shown once again that a Maine Coon cat is superior to anything the Flying Mouse can dish out, and than slept all afternoon on the rocker.

I spent some time this afternoon making filters in the new mail program. I'm still finding Thunderbird disorienting, and am unreasonably worn down by the sheer amount of spam that's arrived in my various inboxes over the weekend. Sheesh. Don't these people have lives?

Friday, I convinced Barbara to cut my hair shorter yet. It's now about two inches long, which is how I used to wear it back before the rocks cooled. My natural color is coming in as a nice, shiny silver threaded with a bit of double-dark brown; it's going to be quite pretty when the last of the dye's gone. I'm also liking the process of the gray "growing out;" by the time it's all grown out, it'll feel natural. It's odd that Barbara seems to feel that it's her job to help hide the fact that my hair is growing out gray. The vibe is almost that it's ...impolite... to have gray hair. But, honestly, I earned every one of these...

[livejournal.com profile] kinzel's downstairs packing SRM orders; the washer is between loads and it's time to wash the dishes.

One of the joys of living in Bohemia (a.k.a Northern California) is seeing other gray-haired women on the street. In Charlotte, NC, just about everybody over the age of 20 is blonde.

I started going gray when I was sixteen; started dyeing my hair when I was thirty; quit about eight years ago; and that lasted only six years.

I really do look fifteen years younger with dark hair. I'm going to keep on doing it, darn it.

Seeing you with short, silver hair is going to be quite the inneresting moment.
