He never come back from Copperhead Road
Monday, December 13th, 2004 08:47 pmThe day started with minor frustration: spent about twenty minutes clearing the ice off my car only to find that the windshield wipers were frozen solid into their well and there was nothing that Man nor Woman could do to bust 'em loose. So I went to town in
kinzel's truck. Did the gym thing, did the bank thing, came home to find that in addition to a run to the post office to mail orders, a printer run was in the works -- we're down to seven Quiet Knives. Again. That book's been running out the door almost as fast as With Stars Underfoot. In any case, Carla thinks we can pick up the completed job Thursday or Friday.
While were in Augusta, we stopped at the Barnes and Noble, learning, among other things, that Kage Baker's new Company novel is in the warehouse but not in the store, and what good, I ask you, does that do me? -- and that Balance of Trade, the softcover isn't anyplace as of yet. The internal B&N catalog lists a release date of December 28, sigh.
The B&N internal catalog also listed Crystal Soldier -- for a February 15, 2005 release, which is ...comforting -- but seemed to think it was a graphic novel. Oh-oh.
Came home via the grocery store, where we laid in catfood and cheese against nasty weather. Good news on the answering machine and in email -- and I forgot to call my sister again Argh. Tomorrow. Really.
The glue on the tiles I felted this morning is almost dry, which means that tomorrow we'll have coasters to replace the ones Scrabble, in an excess of fly-hunting enthusiasm, broke.

Kage Baker
Date: 2004-12-14 05:55 pm (UTC)This has been a major problem for me also. No one stocks her books! You can order them, but they are not at the store to pick up. It makes me crazy. I have checked with every major bookseller in my area, and none of them have her new book on the shelves.
I ended up buying it online. It was excellent, and well worth the trouble.
