Got a couple pieces of news before breakfast that have put me in a rather low mood.  You’d think the universe would have the decency to wait until I’d had at least had one cup of coffee.

In remodeling news — the old deck is gone; the new deck is framed in.  We’re promised a railing — or possibly a partial railing — and floorboards today.

The painters are even now doing battle with the kitchen.  It’s possible that the kitchen’s winning.

The cats are deployed to their waiting-out-the-painters positions:  Mozart occupying the bottom of the bed while Scrabble holds the high ground of the file cabinet in my office.

So sorry about the bad news. There is NO good time for it. Hope the rest of the day is better, with lots of positives in the way of kitchen painting, decking, etc. Take care of yourselves.Kathy from No CA

This is the worst part of a remodel. It looks terrible. You can hardly move. It's noisy and smelly. My guess is that the end of the day will show great progress. I know that the morning I thought I just couldn't manage having the floor guys come, they were almost finished by the end of the day. The disruption sucks, but the end result is very nice. Like having a new house without the hassle of a full move. Hang in there.

If misery loves company, know that I'm right there with you -- bad news yesterday. Still trying to just be grateful for all the stuff in my life that's not bad news. Could work, jury's out. Meanwhile I wish you an ascending rest of the day and some chin-chuckles to the kitties.
