Stealing from writers for fun & profit, Part Million-and-Twoth

Marvel/Disney seeks to forbid the creator of the comic character Ghost Rider from publicly identifying himself as the creator, from doing sketches of the character for money at conventions, and is seeking $17,000 in “damages.”

Boing-boing has the story

All the more reason not to go see it, nor any other Disney/Marvel films. Let them reap their bad publicity in the form of failure at the box office.

Disney is absolutely notorious for this. They did it to the author of Ferdinand the Bull, which was written 76 years ago, but stolen completely by Disney in the 1940s or 1950s.

Disney's business model is monopoly/lawsuit. Stay away.

They did it to the author of Ferdinand the Bull,

That was the one I couldn't remember! Thank you. Yes, Disney has been doing this stuff forever on, as Cory says, "the ancient legal principle of fuck you I said so and I can afford more lawyers than you so shut up." They don't even pretend to buy some of the stuff they use; just lift the story out of a book and the first thing the author knows, they're getting a letter from Legal Mouse telling them to cease and desist.

Gawd forbid that the Rodent should pay royalties.

Very sad for Friedrich. for Disney. Bad Karma. It's got to come back and bite them sometime. Wait for it.
