Well, this is interesting and potentially a game-changer.

Smashwords, which I think I am not alone in having considered a tertiary market for ebooks has signed a distribution deal with Baker and Taylor that will get Smashbooks into libraries and into the Blio bookstore, which has an app that reportedly comes pre-installed on lotsa toys, and is also available in the Android store.

The Smashwords press release is here.

Blio, which I confess I first heard of this morning, is over here.

It'd great that there's another place that will be selling Lee and Miller books. It is even better that Smashword will handle the conversion to the Blio formula. But I'm dismayed that there's
another
eBook format out there!

Yes, that part was dismaying. Can't we all just do ePub?

This is good, I think. Baker & Taylor is, in my experience and in regards to public libraries, a good company --- if a bit eccentric in their packaging. This however will not matter with ebooks!
