. . .and the dust, and the leaves, and the trash cans, and the twigs, and the blue jays trying to come in for a landing at the bird feeder.  So far, the bird feeder’s hanging on.

Yeah, been a windy couple days here.

Also a cold couple days.  Currently 21F (feels-like-5F)/-6C (feels-like-minus-15C).  Nice to see winter finally arrived.

So, no, the draft didn’t get finished yesterday; I’ve got three more scenes, I figure, and then! The Red Pen.  Fortunately, though I didn’t actually happen to think so at the precise moment the phone call came in, I’ve gained some time on the week because the hospital yesterday rescheduled my appointment for the yearly mammogram, which had been on the books (for six months!) for Thursday.  (Have you made your appointment?  C’mon, let’s see a show of hands).

Yesterday, while I was banging my head against the keyboard peacefully typing away in my cloistered tower, Steve put up the next Klamath Splinter.  This one brings a change of character, place and POV.  It starts here.  Read, enjoy, tell your friends.

I’ve been teasing you for a couple months now with a Watch the Skies, and you deserve a little something for your patience, so here you go — Word from Madame the Agent is that. . .contracts are on the bus to her office in New York and will in the fullness of time arrive at the Confusion Factory.  That’s right — plural contracts, and granted some will arrive sooner than others.  What do you suppose those contracts might be for?  Go on — guess.

And, now?  Time for me to go back to work.

See you on the flip side.

Guess Toni W wants something after Dragon Ship for one of the contracts. Unless it's a couple of things.

Well, I'm expecting more Liaden, but would have a hard time guessing where you're going to go next until I've had a chance to read the hat trick currently pending.

I'm hoping maybe another Archer's Beach?

I vote for a follow on to "Carousel Tides" and a follow on to "Dragon Ship".

A sequel to Carousel Tides would be good. Carousel Riptides? Low Tide? I'm glad I don't have to come up with names for your books.

I keep wondering about the early settling of Liad. I mean, we've almost had the landing, how about the early days in the new country? I have to imagine that settling a planet might have a few ups-and-downs, a few chances for Cantra and clan to show their mettle? Or maybe the young offspring to grow up on a new frontier?

Contracts? Plural could be so many...

More Jethri?

A sequel to Balance of Trade would be quite nice. I seem to recall we left young Jethri ready to cause more havoc, and goodness knows we like havoc ;-)

Steve's next project, after the revisions for Dragon Ship clear the deck, is Trade Secret, the *drum roll, please* sequel to Balance of Trade.

When we turn that book in, it will finish the current contract, which included three novels: Dragon Ship, Necessity's Child, and Trade Secret.

Oh! I think that's what Trade Secrets (being written right about now by Steve?) is going to be about. Although we might also pick up the young ladies from Balance of Trade, if Trade Secrets doesn't. I could see them spinning off into their own thread pretty easily.

Uhm...Movie? Audio book(s)? My dream book would be the follow on to Local Custom/Mouse and Dragon, that is, how Anne and Er Thom go on. But, really anything will bring me joy.
Also, my "girls" go to the squisher's to get their picture taken next month. Almost as fun as going for the annual "poke, prod and swap" appointment.

Contracts?

Without your heroic commenters I would have no idea what contracts..However, the commenters have decided that these might be contracts for future novels. Which would be great. Also these are contracts from The Agent (as I discovered in a second reading) which again would argue for contracts for future books.

I have the feeling you would like to go forward with new characters and new situations.

Brunner is one of my favorite characters. People are forever trying to force him into the general mold. He resists.

I just read in the second to last issue of Newsweek....the Justice Dept. has warned Apple and other book publishers that the Dept is going to sue them for colluding to raise the prices of e books. The article compares Apple, Facebook's, etc. bosses to the robber barons of the 19th century so cut throat are their business practices.

Now I would like to have you fill in earlier history and maybe back up to what led up to the death of Chi yos Phelium and the yos Galan nadelm before Er Thom. Early Liad books to show the founding would be fun, too. Allow for new characters and new splinters
