Seen between starting the coffee and pouring a second cup, multiples may be assumed:

Chickadee (Black-capped)
Siskin (Pine)
Titmouse (Tufted)
Dove (Mourning)
Jay (Blue)
Nuthatch (White-breasted)
Sparrow (House)

No turkeys as yet, but the day is young.

Bizarre sort of morning out there -- gray sky, gray snow, gray mist. It's almost as if the snow is sublimating, the resulting mist then freezing onto the trees. Our road looks nasty -- and the town plow just went by for the first time since last night, broadcasting sand. The temperatures (currently 21F/-6C) are supposed to hit 40F/4C this afternoon. At least they've given up calling for rain.

And now it's time to pour that third cup of coffee, pay some bills, read what I wrote yesterday and try to smack it into something resembling English.

That tufted titmouse is an intruder -- ain't supposed to be in Maine. The wife has been seeing one or two out at the nature center, a goodly ways from your deck. And while I haven't seen any here in the Big City, I did hear a mockingbird (another alien) embellishing his song with titmouse calls last summer. Maybe it's an invasion?

Our forecast still calls for rain overnight tonight.
