rolanni: (So There)

Lots of off-line stuff to attend to today, as yesterday afternoon. I am, for the record, slightly behind on email.

So! What’re y’all doing this weekend?

OH, the busy of today... First of all, going to be nice, dry weather for the first time that's useful. So - Hubby and KPa are taking both kids out for the day - Lilu, my 4 year old daughter has her Poekoelan class (pre-martial arts) otherwise known as "Little Monkeys" class, and then they will join KPa and 2 year old (he just had his birthday!) Gryphon at the park for romping and and loudness.

So.... I will be ALL ALONE. HURRAAY!

On my list - dye my hair "Blue Envy" to highlight my wild and crazy silver hairs, which like to poke out every which way. The ret of my hair is a vrey dark brown, so shouldn't take the blue. But I LIKE blue, so either way, it's fine, but NOT something you can do if there are toddlers anywhere within reach of your head.

ALSO! work in the garden. Empty that one incomplete bed so I can get to the layers and layers of landscape cloth we put in there last year so Gryphon had a safe place to play. This liner will be used underneath the old tires that will be hosting the potato plants, to keep the moles from eating them (do they eat them?). Sister-in-law in Scotland has been very successful making potato towers this way, and I am eager to try it! Did you know that Les Schwab will just GIVE you however many tires you would like? SO anyway, I'mgoing to lay down the liner, put the tires on top, fill the sides of the tires with crumpled up newspaper, since you don't need dirt in the sides, and this way you can just lift the tires off when you need to harvest. Dirt in the bottom, plant the taters, and wait for them to grow up enough to add another tire and layer of dirt, woohoo. I already have the tires....

And if I have time after I get THAT done, I am going to put up a gutter garden in the actual garden, and plant my lettuces and radishes in it. We have a bunch of old rain gutters that came down a couple of seasons ago, and thy will be awesome. Why would I do this, when I have four raised beds? Because I'm hoping the slugs will NOT climb up the deer fencing to get to the lettuce. I have MANY slugs. Also, the gutter garden idea looks so COOL!

Oh! The other thing I GOTTA do is shovel out the chicken house and put down new pine shavings. I will mix this all up with some food grade diatomaceous earth to discourage any chicken mites or lice... I wish I could share with you the delicious eggs I get! Also, they are very pretty! Brown, cream, green, blue, pink... Every day is like an easter egg hunt! Except the eggs are always in the same place!

And possibly, it might be needful to go down into Hillsboro to pick up the Prius, which had all its warning lights on yesterday, we know not why.

So, a day of fullness.

Oh! And possibly, I will skni that squirrel I shot off the bird feeder yesterday. Or not.

Progress....

Oh yes, and also did the hair dye thing - but! My silver hair is far too porous, and will not hold the color. Le sigh....

Step on nail - check!

Go to ER - check!

Wait 3.5 hours for tetanus shot and bandaid - check! (they were VERY nice, though. And VERY busy, since this was the first really nice day of the year, and everyone was out doing something).

Dinner at Taco Bell - check!

Thank ghod for my dad being here to watch our kids while we did all that!

On the list for this morning - buy garden clogs (nail proof), THEN go back to working on potato tire towers. I love my flip-flops because I'm from Hawaii, but since we had those windwos replaced last fall, I fear there may be more nails lying around at the perimeter of the house and while I've just had a new shot, I don't want any more puncture wounds!

Sort through some stuff that has piled up and designated as "deal with later". Today is later as I cannot stand looking at it anymore. Then shred the resultant paper. And as always laundry.

It is a beautiful day but this must happen before outside can be achieved.

I am thanking the universe that I got all my important errands done yesterday, plus baked bread and made a big pot o' soup for dinner last night. We are having Weather this weekend, and I am fibro-flattened. Gonna take advantage of the downtime to work on tunneling my way through the plot logjam on Novelthing, assuming I can make my brain focus enough to write.

If not, I shall lie on the couch and play Angry Birds until the storms pass.

Ye gads. I popped open a window and did a google search for NovelThing, wondering what new app or social networking tool or gizmo had popped up when I wasn't looking. Then I realized that was the nom de guerre of your work in progress. And laughed at my own interpretation of what a plot logjam on NovelThing probably meant... Thanks!
