Today is my birthday.  Yes, it is.  And I am sixty years old.

On some other occasion I'll ruminate on the irony of arriving here, which is much, much further along the timeline than I thought I'd get.  But for this morning, I'll thank all! of the folks, from Maine to Surebleak, judging from FB, LJ, and private email, for the birthday wishes.  I'm overwhelmed.  Really.

Since it is my birthday, and I get, at least in a very small way, to set today's rules of engagement, I'd like to give y'all a gift.

You know that proposal for five Liaden books that we had pitched to Madame the Agent at the beginning of the summer?  Which she subsequently pitched to Madame the Editor?

The proposal has been accepted; the books have been sold.

Thank you.

Sharon

P.S.  Regarding the above -- no, we don't know pub dates; no, we don't know the titles --  might be Bridgett, Fred, Lou, Beth, Ellen. . .  We'll let you know these things as we know them.

In the meantime. . .watch the skies.

May you and Steve have many more years together, accompanied by many more felinities. I turned 60 last November...what a long, strange trip it's been. Keep on truckin' and happy birthday.

I told my 85-year-old dad about several upcoming liaden books; he said that was a good incentive to make it to 90-plus. His family tend to be quite long-lived. He's actually in better health than I am. Y'see, there were these fun things called motorcycles when I was in college...and then I had a couple of nasty accidents...and I broke my spine and pelvis...it sorta went downhill from there. After 30 years of biking, I kinda gave up bikes for Lent, permanently, even though I'm actually Jewish. It's kinda a long story..

My celebratory best wishes to all at the Cat Farm and Confusion Factory and Archer's Beach.

BTW, my copy of Carousel Tides has been to Boston, New Hampshire, back to New Mexico. Who knows where it will land next?

Many Happy Returns. And Yeehaw for the books. I'd put in an advance order for them if I could.
Hope you have a nice seaside walk to celebrate.

Five books? Congratulations!

And thank you very much.

If I might ask, I remember that you referred to proposals for books 'in series' does this mean that one or more of these books is a direct sequel to one of the existing Liaden books.

Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday Sharon! I am on my husbands live account, so it's really DeAnn Rossetti who is writing here, but I just could not resist wishing you a day full of fun, laughter and great food that is bad for you, but tastes wonderful! I always indulge in vegan doughnuon my birthday, and I always share them with friends and family, which makes the day all the sweeter.
Congratulations, as well, on selling all the books! Hurrah! That is great news for Liaden Universe fans.
Thank you!
DeAnn

Yay, Bridgett, Yay, Fred, Yay, Lou, Yay, Beth, Yay, Ellen! Thank you

And a very happy birthday to you. A number of us seem to be in that decade (61 here), and I join in saying WELCOME. For me so far it's been a pretty good time, barring this summer with the broken ankle. You've already had the damaged ankle, so DON'T DO IT AGAIN. Just sayin'. (Although I did learn to knit socks, which probably otherwise would not have happened.)

Hope the rest of the early autumn by the sea goes very well.
