rolanni: (Saving world)
[personal profile] rolanni

I have been away; driving up and down the world during a day so dim the air looked grey.  I have no idea why it wasn't snowing.

I've ordered new glasses (ouch), picked up prescriptions at the drugstore,  tomorrow's dinner from the Hannaford deli, and today's lunch from Subway.  I did not get Binjali's tires rotated, because Tire Warehouse was! a! zoo!  What's that about, on the day before Thanksgiving?

Back home, packages had arrived -- 2013 (!) calendars, a case of paper, and Agnes and the Hitman in mmp.

What I want to do now is take a nap.  What I will do now is pour myself a cup of coffee and get with the galleys.

What're you doing today?

Tire Warehouse was probably a zoo for the same reason many auto repair shops are -- people who are going to drive somewhere for thanksgiving, and suddenly realize tires are bald, battery is bad, car hasn't had oil change in a year...that kind of thing.

Working and shopping and going home to meet my guests (my sister and her family). Then drinking some wine and cooking some dinner for tonight and a couple of dishes for tomorrow. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving. BTW, you and Steve and your books are on the top end of things for which I am thankful.

I'm kicked back in my recliner, streaming music on my computer from the "Cryosleep" channel on the Blue Mars internet radio station, catching up on the blogs and webcomics I follow. I just downloaded some photos I took over the last couple of days for a blog post I'm thinking about writing. I just finished a pair of fresh-baked biscuits with apple butter on and I'm drinking sweet (hot) tea. The white kitteh had jumped up into my lap (on top of my lap robe), curled up between my knees, and was snoozing until just a few minutes ago when he got up and wandered off. (He's part Himalayan so I suspect he got too warm, or else his presence was required elsewhere to keep the quantum mechanics of the house from getting out of kilter.) I expect sooner or later the black one will crawl up under the lap robe and curl up between my knees. Apparently, I have popular knees. . .

Whitled down my e-mails. Went to a very late birthday party for my friend (and finance of friend) and me. We couldn't celebrate our birthdays til today. there are also 4 unruly Pekes in the house who enjoyed the occasion. I am promised e-mailed photos of various bits of wonderful architecture (churches, towers) from a recent trip the couple took to Italy.

Agnes and the Hitman is wonderful. I've read it a few times.
