If you haven't had them recommended to you already, I've been enjoying Martha Wells' Raksura books very much ("The Cloud Roads," "The Serpent Sea" and "The Siren Depths").

If you've not read them, I recommend Lorna Freeman's Borderlands novels - great characters and a well-imagined world (sounds very similar to some other authors I know... ;-) )
