1.  My colleague Robert V.S. Redick yesterday celebrated Book Day for  The Night of the Swarm, the fourth-and-last book in his epic fantasy series, The Chathrand Voyage Quartet. You can read all about it, and view a book trailer, here on Robert's homepage.

2.  I may have failed to mention here that John Scalzi hosted a Big Idea piece about Necessity's Child yesterday.  Here's that link.

3.  Uncle Hugo is shipping Necessity's Child! Mr. Blyly lets us know that he's shipped out about 150 copies so far, starting with the first pre-orders received, in September, and is now through those placed in October.  He believes that he will have shipped all non-problem orders by Monday-next.

Very nice of John Scalzi to write the piece on Necessities Child. Every once in a while here in S. Utah there will be a Gypsy wagon parked by the side of the road which goes from S. UT to N. Utah. I have never met them personally here though. I think they definitely value their privcy. I do have experience with the gypsies of New York City ...or else some that were living there back then. They liked a charitable thrift shop that I helped run. They are still mysterious though. I saw a piece on the news that talked about a particular tribe of the Romani. I'll have to go look that up. A friend of mine is an expert on the Tarot Cards which I think they invented with which they read our fortunes. At any psychic fair there's likely to be at least one gypsy there reading fortunes. But I've heard that they aren't entirely reliable. Sometimes they say they've put a curse on you. And then they want a lot of money to remove it. Their ethics regarding the gadje community seem to be a bit uneven.
