I was out early (for values of early that include "before noon") today in the garden, doing what I could for the roses and the hosta and the day lilies.  The bugs finally drove me inside.  I hate me some bugs, I do.

Yesterday was mostly about the writing and today will be, too.  The Plan had been to turn this book in before August 15, if at all possible, so I could get some down-time between Archers Beach Thought and Liaden Universe® Thought.

I just realized, though, that we'll be traveling at the end of May/beginning of June (by which I mean, I knew that, but I didn't KNOW it) so, argh. In theory, if I write just 2,000 words every day (which we know is more than possible, if Things will just stop Happening.  *glares at Things and dares them to Happen*) I have available to me before we leave for BEA, then I'll have a complete draft done.  It can then sit and percolate for a week while we glam around New York, and I can come home ready to slash and burn edit and revise.  Get the book outta here by the end of June.  Have July to lie on the couch sipping wine and reading trashy novels move on the various tasks necessary to get the house ready for sale...

Hmm.

It hangs together as a plan, anyhow.  Let's see how it implements.  *Pulls on typing gloves and settles her glasses*

"Not a glamor-user, yourself?" Felsic inquired.

"What you see is what you get," I answered, just as the light snapped out in the back room.

What did I miss? Where are you going? Has the weather Down East gotten to you? Surely not...Florida!

Surely not...Florida!

You saw the remark about bugs, right? Surely not Florida, though I would like to move south. Say, to Saco.

We've been slowly nerving up to this since Steve's Excellent Cardiac Adventures, back in 2011. We live in a biggish, oldish house almost fifteen miles out of town. Fifteen miles from the nearest grocery store, from the nearest veterinarian, and fifteen miles from the nearest hospital. And snow multiplies fifteen miles by two, and sometimes five.

Bottom lines are: we need to be closer to these things, so a move at least into town is necessary; and! we need a smaller establishment with better access to assistance, since most of the (literal) heavy lifting now falls (or actually, we hope it doesn't) to me. The two of us can keep this place up and running with not much muss or fuss. One-and-a-half of us. . .and it gets dicey.

move into (a) town

I kept checking back for all the comments I'se sure this plan would generate but everyone was strangely silent. Can't resist commenting.

Many kudos on constructing and implementing your long-term plan.

I remember how much you enjoyed walking the sidewalks of Old Orchard Beach during your stay there. You deserve that, less muss and fuss and whatever else is on your wish list for new surroundings.

One wonders if your condo stay in OOB made condo dwelling a possibility. The years I spent in a condo were wonderfully maintenance free.
