Sword of Orion work continues. Good ghod, is it really the 13th already?

Spent some time this morning catching up long overdue letters to Andre Norton and to Lyn McConchie. Looked at the bookkeeping and at the bills. Looked away.

Spaghetti for supper, then back to work.

Andre was doing wonderfully well around New Years (which, I am ashamed to say, is when this letter arrived. I are a Terrible Correspondent(tm)) -- nice, long chatty note about the cats, and the book coming out from Tor in April, and how she was busy making fantasy jewelry to sell on Ebay. I am all admiration; I couldn't make jewelry if my life depended on it right now, spring chicken that I am.

Actually, I make jewelry when my hands aren't bothering me--just weakened and bought some red sponge coral for a necklace for my niece (graduation beckons...) But selling it on E-Bay is way more nerve than I have.

And of course as I prepared to answer you, the note came down about Andre in the hospital. ARGH! I **really** want Andre to recover completely from this. I dearly hope she gets another two or three good years, and then slips away peacefully. I mailed a note today with flower seeds in it--I forgot to remind her that her Green Man is waiting in her garden for her.

The car situation has not yet been resolved. At the moment, Kinzel and I are in meltdown mode for a book that must absolutely without fail be turned in no later than February 22. Which is why I've been scarce. Crystal Dragon is on hold at the moment, which gorples me mightily; I so wanted to have that first draft done before we left for SheVaCon. Can't be helped, though; Sword of Orion has dibs.

All these artistic and accomplished people... I'm a huxter at heart, I guess; the selling-on-Ebay part of the enterprise seems merely everyday.

Sword is for John Ordover, over there to Phobos Entertainment. First of a projected seven-book series. It's set in a nice, sprawly space opera universe; the main character, a young woman named Jerel, is about sixteen when this book begins. She's studying to be a spaceship mechanic and has her future pretty well planned out. Gotta feel sorry for the kid...

I remember those days. Revision on the fly, that's what they should have taught us. Is Phobos print or E-book, I don't know them (I don't know any of the new ones, sigh.)

They've got <i>Sword of Orion</i> coming out in the fall and <i>Blood and Roses</i>, by Ann Tonsor Zeddies coming out I think in the summer. I've got a copy of Ann's book here to read when <i>Sword</i>'s outta my hair. Just peeking, it looks tasty -- France in 1917, a kick-ass heroine -- yum.

Looks like they're doing some quality covers--I like the Pixeltown one--but got bogged down with too many books by unknowns. Gotta pace those, or it can hurt the bottom line if too many too soon.
