We left Maine last Wednesday in snow and betook ourselves to Beautiful Roanoke, Virginia via Chambersburg and points South and West. We ran out of Northern Snow before we hit Massachusetts, but then picked up some of the Southern Sort Thursday morning between Chambersburg and Roanoke. Arriving in Roanoke not too much the worse for the wear, the plan was to enjoy SheVaCon -- which we did to the fullest extent possible -- then leave Monday morning to mooch on over to Bawlmur and visit with various siblings and parental units.

Alas, the Weather Ghods took issue with the latter part of the plan. A Major Winter Storm -- actually, two Major Winter Storms -- collaborated in convincing us that the best thing to do would be to ditch out on Sunday evening, return to Chambersburg and rise early, hoping thereby to beat the storm to Maine.

This we handily did, running a couple hours ahead of the weather all the way up 81-84-90-&c twelve-hour drive, escorted for much of the trip by red-tailed hawks. The snow here started sometime after I went to bed and is for all intents and purposes done now. I'd hazard a guess of about 8 inches on the ground. The plow guy has been here, and we're slowly sorting out the snailmail and the luggage. I believe a viewing of Ice Pirates may be in order, later in the day...

Con report ...in a little while.
