Where the Books Are
Wednesday, March 9th, 2005 09:36 amYesterday, it rained, then it snowed, then it sleeted (slet?), then it snowed some more. Then the wind came up. At this writing, we have snow flurries, 10 degrees F (-12C), and lotsa wind. We are in Waiting for the Plowguy Mode.
In good news/bad news, the books for signature are not expected to arrive today. The new best-guess delivery date is Friday, March 11. When it's supposed to snow...
On the bookstore front, Amazon.com is shipping Crystal Soldier, albeit slowly and in a pattern known only to themselves. To the best of our knowledge, books have entered what's known around here as the Major Distribution Channels -- that means they've been shipped from the uber-distributor, Diamond, to other distributors (notably Baker & Taylor, Ingram, Koen, and Amazon (which for the purposes of this discussion is its own distributor -- no, I don't know how that works, exactly.)). From there, they will be parceled out and shipped to stores.
If you've gotta have the book ASAP, it looks like the best place to order is either your local specialty shop (which may have to do a special order, which could take some days), or Amazon.com (which may or may not be putting new orders at the bottom of the pile, and could take upwards of five weeks).
...there's sunshine coming through my office window...
