You know that day?

You know the day when you started out to do A Particular Thing, but there was a deadlined project in email and you thought it wouldn't take more than an hour, but it took until past lunch, and then you thought that the solution to the WordPress problem -- which is STILL borked, btw -- was to change the theme, but it wasn't, but now you have a new theme, which you don't particularly like, and all of your menus were scrod, and you *had* to fix that and it would only take a couple minutes, except it wound up taking two hours, and then you had to vacuum the house, which you've been putting off for, um...and it would only take five minutes, except then the roller was fouled with cat hair and you had to take it apart, and clear the hair, and then put it back together, and for ghu's sake, who takes an hour and a half to vacuum the house? And then the dishes had to be done, because you'd put them off, too? And suddenly it was time to knock off for the evening, because Things tomorrow, and you never did get that One Particular Thing you absolutely needed to do today done?

I've just had that day.

Ick. So sorry to hear all that. I hope you spent the rest of the day doing something enjoyable. One that made you happy.

We can always consider it a hint from the univers that - no, those are not the droids actions you are looking for...

Meanwhile, a few more questions, if I may:
* In the Rover, a man smells of vaya (" His coat stank of smoke and a hint of old vaya and sweat...") - is that the same vya that Theo is allergic to, or is it something else? I can barely imagine what would _old_ vya act like...

* In the Rifle, businesswoman Audrey seems to have been demoted (or is it promoted?) to Miss. I am pretty sure she was Ms in Plan B... Or is she looking forward to getting married now?

* And a more interesting question: dea'Gauss. I've just realised that I do not understand their position in the Liad system. They must be part of a clan, but what clan is that? Obviously not Korval. And we've never seen the Delm of, well, dea'Gauss.

Also, I am worried about them, and Liad's economy too. We know that dea'Gauss line is populous and that they serve as accountants and lawyers all around the world. Now that they all must be let go, and their reputation in Liad business world tainted, what will happen to them? And what will happen to Liad without their quietly coordinated input?

Poor, poor planet. :-)

It *is* their own fault, for being foolish enough to banish Korval .... though I do feel sorry for all the folk who didn't get a say

I don't really believe in collective punishment, so "it's their fault" doesn't bear much weight with me... I just feel sorry for all of them. :-)

As for not having a say - within the Liad political rules everybody actually had a say. Except for the Low Port dwellers, but well, those are restricted in their rights intentionally. Everybody is represented by their delm, the assembly of delms voted, and the majority won.

Though I do not quite understand how that system works. There are very few clans, maybe several hundreds of them, and the number of liadens is large enough to man their factories, space stations and trade missions all over the galaxy. Yet all the powerful clans have only a handful of people. The whole of Tiazan fit inside one dining room when they were gathered. So, there must exist some huge, "working-class" clans that are governed by their delms without any pretense of democracy or individual rights. That must hurt.
:-)

what a day

I've been having that day all week. Truly Minus the Wordpress but plus having to take a crashed computer in for repair. Luckily OK now. Al least you got the other things done, and they had to be done sometimes so you are ahead of the game with everything else!

I congratulate you on completing several necessary chores, even if of lower priority than that One Particular Thing. I must warn you, however, that this kind of day evolves with age into the "but first" syndrome, in which nothing is accomplished but a myriad of tasks are partly performed. I'm afraid I am at that stage of life all too often. Sigh. I do hope you have finished the One Particular Thing now?
