. . .and so on

So, today was my turn with the doctor.  My entry is a sinus infection; my prize amoxicillin in the large, economy size, with a hold-out prescription for an inhaler, in case the whole I-can't-breathe-thing gets uglier.

On the way home, we of course stopped at the drugstore to fill the 'script.  Then we went to Flo's Greenhouse and Steve bought us a. . .rather large wreath, which will make the house smell pleasantly like pine, and upon which we may hang ornaments, if either or both of us is so moved.  We then stopped at Holy Cannoli, and purchased a homemade Lasagna (actually, I'm guessing it's more like a Quarter, or even an Eighth, Lasagna -- still a Massive Beast), which is destined to be dinner on Christmas Day.  Also a raspberry bar, and a blueberry bar, because Holy Cannoli fruit bars are to die for. We had penciled in a viewing of "Into the Woods," for Christmas Day, also, but right now that looks like it ain't gonna happen.

I'm thinking that the rest of the day looks like:  Lunch.  Nap.  Do Dishes.  Nap/play cards.  Supper.  Go to bed.

. . .and how's your day been?

There were too many. I have been sick for a month and cannot brain. I knew, however, that I could not bring home ALL the cannoli, so I brought none. Obviously this means?

*Cannoli for New Years!*

I hope that many naps are in your near future. They are the best way to escape from the unpleasant things about being sick. Oh, with dinner there should be a hot toddy.

Get well soon. Breathing is good.

Had an expedition to Kam Man in Quincy to get some chinese food stuffs, and divine Dim Sum at the restaurant next door.
And now recovering from grocery over stimulus.

Grocery shopping for the Christmas Food trifecta.....Christmas eve, traditional homemade pirogi dinner (stuffed with mashed potatoes, sauerkraut, and onion then topped with lots of bacon bits and sour cream) side dishes of kielbasa and cole slaw. Everyone comes over that afternoon to help roll and stuff them. Then Christmas Day Brunch, eggs benedict, galaktoboureko (http://allrecipes.com/recipe/galaktoboureko/), hominy cassarole, fruit platter, asparagus, and mimosas. Followed up on Friday with a big Boxing Day open house. Fortunately I'm retired and have two adult daughters to help with some of it. It still seems kind of crazy.

Did some laundry.

Did some Christmas shopping.

Discovered that the local toy shop has an entire extra room, accessible through a doorway that's only there if you look at it the right angle, with all the games too complicated or otherwise considered inappropriate for children, including several I've bought on trips to the big smoke or mail-ordered because I had no idea there was anywhere to buy them locally.

Watched a bit of The Box of Delights.

Went to the gym.

Read one of my favourite chapters of Plan B.

A pretty good day, all things considered.

I hope you get lots of rest, and get well soon.

'Wrapped' presents, by which I these days mean 'sew little bags out of dead quilt cover to hold presents in that can be used over and over again without wasting paper'

Laundry.

Swam.

Popped to shops to get requirements for contribution to Christmas lunch.

Mostly quiet day.

Recovered from yesterday morning when the white kitty got into my knitting and got yarn wrapped and twisted around his left hind leg, not tight enough to cut off the circulation, but tight enough that it wouldn't slip down over his heel and I had to load him up and take him to an emergency vet clinic (where they have muzzles and two people to hold him down) to get it cut off. That will be $85, thank you very much. It took everybody almost 2 hours to hiss and make up after we came home. Got 4 hours sleep, worked from 3 to midnight then started in on knitting an ad lib prezzy (I'm making up as I go along and writing down the pattern as I go). crashed and burned at 6 am, slept til 3 pm and have been taking it easy, sitting at the computer where there's a recliner, a quilted lap robe, internet radio, and a good light, and working on the ad lib present.

(posting after the fact, and boys still asleep)

[Twin] Toddlers woke up cranky. We all enjoyed an outing to Target where I procured them a "twins" baby doll set complete with cribs and tiny bottles. They were entranced for quite a while. They also named the babies after babies they knew in their day care.

Then...they didn't nap. I finally let them out and they ran wild and became more and more cranky until we put them to bed. Their dad and I said, "whew!" after they were asleep. I think we need to get them to a park today.
