So, I have a bunch of things to do, and the whole relapse thing was so not in my schedule.  We've already renegotiated the deadline for Alliance of Equals, but the other things on the plate can't exactly be renegotiated.  So, I'm plugging away at them, doggedly -- no, make that grimly -- and hoping to ghod that I'll pick up something like energy and brainpower SOON.

On the to-do list are these things:

1.  Get paperwork/form to accountant no latter than February 20

2.  Get Best Guess for 2015 income, and copies of 2014 income tax returns to ACA on or before February 15 (you will note the discrepancies in the dates)

3.  Hand in Alliance of Equals, by no later than May 29

So. . .this morning, I spent filling in accounting paperwork, slowly; and took a stab at the Best Guess for 2015 income.  The ACA is going to have to make do with the 2013 income tax returns, because that's what I have.  Also?  It does not fill me with joy that the ACA cannot itself get its act in gear to adhere to the IRS deadline of mailing Important Tax Documentation no later than January 31.  They sent me an email this morning indicating that I could look forward to having my 1095-A, Health Insurance Marketplace Statement in "early" February.  Sigh.  Here's hoping that's not "early" by gummint standards.

After lunch, I answered a couple emails, and now, after I'm done this blog entry, I shall repair to the couch to read (again) the first 40K or so of Alliance of Equals, with an eye to, yanno, actually going to work sometime soon.

In other news -- well, actually there is no other news, except that I just purchased three books about the Romani/Gypsies.  At this rate, I'm going to have to write another book about the Bedel.

So, what're you doing that's fun?

That's fun?

At the moment re-reading my way thru Gordon R Dickson's Dragon series.
I'm also apparently waiting patiently for another book about the Bedel.

How many Dragon-and-George books are there? Somehow, I assumed there were only two...

There are 9 published books and the original short story. He was apparently working on a tenth when he passed away.
The complete list can be found here on Wikipedea: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dragon_Knight (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dragon_Knight)
The tenth may be published if the estate can find someone they think is suitable to finish it.

The Bedel and so many other aspects of the Liaden universe want stories. You need a Big Writing Team™!

Of course, then all you'd be left with is management, and we all know that's no fun ... ;p

No, what I need is that Ivory Tower in the woods, with the Invisible Hands as housekeepers/cooks. They -- THEY -- don't tell you, when you decide to do the writer thing, that you're going to have to choose your projects, and that sometimes the projects you choose will have to be stuff like laundry.

They -- THEY -- don't tell you

As usual THEY have a lot to answer for. And the cats only do supervision.

Ohmighod. I'd be frantic. Well. I thought I was losing my mind when I lost Steve's car keys. I do lose things, but not keys -- I've been responsible for Other People's Keys since my very first job, mumble years ago, and it terrifies me that I'm turning into one of those people who needs somebody else to keep track of their keys.

The long rainbow-striped lanyard attached to them has now been *tied* to the things-I-take-to-work-that-won't-fit-in-the-pocketbook bag

I too spent the day buried in tax & accounting tasks. I always try to get our company's books to the outside accountant by January 15th, but I'll be a day late this year. Got the estimated payments for everyone mailed, which made me feel happy. Then I started in on the pile of paper on my desk, and moving 2014 & 2013 out of file cabinet and into storage box.

I feel your pain.

I want a flat tax. Every quarter, I'll tot up what I made, and send the gummint a check for X%. In return, they'll give me back half of January and all of February.

A fun thing I did today was to watch this video of two people playing Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D minor on one of those big electronic floor mats with a keyboard printed on that you step on to produce noises.
