I've been not talking about the Terri Schiavo mess because others have expressed my bafflement and outrage far more cogently than I could. This, however, defies belief:

Fla. officials' attempt, fail to seize Schiavo
By Carol Marbin Miller, Knight Ridder Newspapers

MIAMI - Hours after a judge ordered that Terri Schiavo wasn't to be removed from her hospice, a team of Florida law enforcement agents were en route to seize her and have her feeding tube reinserted - but they stopped short when local police told them they would enforce the judge's order, The Miami Herald has learned.

Agents of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement told police in Pinellas Park, the small town where Schiavo lies at Hospice Woodside, that they were on the way to take her to a hospital to resume her feeding.

I may have mentioned here before how very much, um, regard I have for Michael Heath, the executive director of the Maine Christian Civic League. Mr. Heath was the fellow who, last year, called on a public website for "facts, rumors or innuendo" regarding the sexual orientation of those Maine state legislatures who had inexplicably failed to subscribe to his views on gay marriage, and the discrimination of gay people. For this, he was disciplined by his own Board, relieved of his duties for a while and remanded to prayer. He's now back, and all bothered about gay rights again.

Is this the nut who was profiled on The Daily Show this week? Who is bringing a bill up on Gay Rights so he can defeat it?

Okay--

I thought the name was different, but I'd already erased the show. Feared he had double tricks. Of course, two of them means double chances for mischief.
