It's a Tale of the Modern Age, that, when I hear the neighbor firing his shotgun in his back yard (which he's not supposed to do, being X feet from the nearest neighbor. Who would be us.), I now think:  "Oh, ghod, I hope he's not killing the family," when I used to think, "Oh, ghod, drunk again and after the rabbits."

Either way, I wish he'd stop.

Around here, the houses are further apart. Some of the people across the canyon shoot from time to time. It's legal, and I'm a shooter myself, but not HERE. I don't worry about who's shooting what (unless it sounds like it's being aimed my way), but even as a shooter, I find it annoying. Especially when they decide to do it around dinner time in the summer when all the windows are open. That's why we have, you know, shooting ranges ... ;/

There's a perfectly legal shooting range in the gravel pit not a quarter mile down the road, if he's in the mood for shooting. There are kids, and cats and dogs, and the neighbor's chickens on the move around here -- not to mention the neighbors themselves. Too much opportunity for error.

Plus, yanno, the noise. The gravel pit, I can tune out. Hard to do when the damn' gun's practically going off in my ear.

The noise is my problem with it as well. On the other hand, I have no desire to get involved in a range war over it :)
