It's a Tale of the Modern Age, that, when I hear the neighbor firing his shotgun in his back yard (which he's not supposed to do, being X feet from the nearest neighbor. Who would be us.), I now think:  "Oh, ghod, I hope he's not killing the family," when I used to think, "Oh, ghod, drunk again and after the rabbits."

Either way, I wish he'd stop.

I'm fortunate in that this sort of thing is rarely a problem in my country neighborhood. Things that sound like gunshots are *far* more likely to be fireworks.

The main noise problem is an around-the-corner-neighbor's penchant for throwing *very loud* musical parties during good summer weather .... in the small woods in back of his house, which is in back of *my* house ..... and I'm fairly certain that these parties not-infrequently actually leak over into the back of our property. However, like Bandicoot, I don't think it's worth a range war
