It's a Tale of the Modern Age, that, when I hear the neighbor firing his shotgun in his back yard (which he's not supposed to do, being X feet from the nearest neighbor. Who would be us.), I now think:  "Oh, ghod, I hope he's not killing the family," when I used to think, "Oh, ghod, drunk again and after the rabbits."

Either way, I wish he'd stop.

My neighbor to the south used to shoot deer from his back porch. Sometimes the deer were between his house and my barn, or my neighbor's barn. NOT happy about that.

And he's about 250 yards away. A rifle can kill you from a mile away.

I had a neighbor like that. He used to shoot snakes from his deck over the creek that ran in back of our houses---26 feet down. The creek was only about a foot deep and the neighborhood kids thought it was a great place to play as well as their dogs. The banks were limestone, so ricochets were not only likely but probable. When I pointed these things out to him, he said he hadn't really thought about that.
