Loved seeing the extra cat photos on Facebook! It appears as though Belle and Princess Jasmine have reached an accommodation.

Re the outlet with the UPS plugged into it that sizzled and popped: Hope everything is o.k. and that your electrician was able to respond promptly to your call!!
When I had to have the electrical service to my house upgraded and the whole service box and all the circuit breakers replaced ($$$$$!) a number of years back because everything had become wet and started to rust, I had my electrician install a dedicated, 15 amp circuit specifically for my computer and all peripherals. While a plug can give out due to age, etc., having the dedicated outlet provides me with an extra level of safety and a certain comfort level I would not have with stuff plugged into the general 10 amp circuit that serves the family room, kitchen, and dining room.

'I have 3 dedicated plugs (15 for the computer and 2 20s for the laser printers) and UPS for the computer, monitor, modem and wireless modem
I upgraded the house about 6 yrs ago and had 400amp service installed (beaucoo bucks) with a commercial surge protector provided by the Light and Power people for a mere 1.75 a month.

No more "brown out's" in the summer, when the AC is running all the time.
