On the downside

...of a pleasant day. Slept lateish, chatted with family down in Maryland, read a little, wrote a little, baked bread. Ravioli and alfredo sauce with broccoli and cauliflower for dinner, The Fabulous Baker Boys for entertainment, and a little more reading to round it all out.

We're looking for dirty weather on the overnight and into tomorrow. I don't have to be anywhere but right here until Wednesday...

The current project, which needs a title badly stands at 15,032 words. The first line goes like this:

No matter how many words they use to say it, people only ever leave home for two reasons: Love or money.

I supposed "Love or Money" is out the question?

Hummmm...I'd say they also leave because of various fears, or hope of adventure, for lack of a more encompassing word. But that's clearly not this character's experience.

I either nail a title in the beginning, or struggle to find it. We're going to need more--or do you have candidates?

While I love having a good title early on, sometimes it's just not there and while I'm furiously typing, bingo! I realize I just typed the title. So, I've stopped sweating it. If it hasn't come by The End, a brainstorming session reveals it.

A toss of the words?

Try these on:

Leaving Home
You Can't Leave Home Again
Home is Where the Money Is
Home is Where the Heartbreak Starts
Ravioli and Alfredo Sauce

I really think the last one is the best. Imagine that in gold embossed letters across a dark green cover. Of course, you might end up with your book stocked in the cookbooks. Just consider it an adventure in meeting new fans :-)

Here's wishing you a serendipitious solstice!
