The Glamorous Life of a Writer
Saturday, June 17th, 2006 07:09 pmI've finished reading Gunshy and it's pretty good. I have revisions in hand from Mine Editor, notes from the kind police officer who allowed himself to be imposed upon, my own notes from this cold (actually, frozen -- I haven't looked at this book in a couple years) reading, and also the chapter outline that I produced after my reading was done.
Tomorrow, I get to start taking things apart.
The notes from Mine Editor call for expansions of certain points. The notes from the police officer elucidate a couple of technical points that I got Dead Wrong. My own notes identify the place where the plot takes a sudden and unnecessary detour and needs to be brought back into line.
Left to myself, I write reallyREALLY tight, so all this expansion, explanation, and straightening out is going to be something of a challenge. That'll learn me. Next time, I'm going to write squishy, yessir.
Or not.
