I'm not sure I understand Exactly Where the Problem With These Sentences Lies, but this* from the latest InfoDump has apparently caused a buncha people stress, uncertainty, and fear.
Yes, if you subscribed to Fledgling in the amount of $25 or more**, you will receive one copy of the book. That was the deal from the beginning; you don't have to do anything else.
Your PayPal receipt and/or your canceled check is your verification. I didn't send out 1200 individual verifications. Time and all that. Thank you for your understanding.
Please, if you have a PayPal receipt and/or a canceled check indicating that you subscribed to Fledgling in the amount of $25 or more, don't write to ask me to "make sure" that you're in the database. I understand the anxiety and the anticipation. Really. But -- the time I spend looking up things in the database and then writing affirming emails is time I'm not doing other things dearer to your heart. Be honest -- did you donate to Fledgling because you love my database skills? Didn't think so.
If, after reading the above, you still Feel Compelled to ask me to check the database for your subscription, please be aware of the following: (1) It's gonna take me awhile -- we're talking days, not hours -- there are many more of you than there are of me; (2) Give me something to go on -- Your full name is good. The email address from which you ordered is OK, too. I can also work with the delivery address. "Jerry" from nottheaddressiorderedfrom@whome.com? Not so much help.
I do very much appreciate those folks who have written to amend their addresses after a move, or a street renumbering, or similar adventure. Very helpful, thank you. We do want people to get their books.
I realize that I'm sounding tired and cranky. That would be because I'm...tired and cranky. We appreciate your support and your interest in our work. You guys made Fledgling an incredible success, and we don't forget that. I'm just asking you to think before you hit that "send" button, "Do I really need to do this?"
Thanks, and g'night.

*Fledgling and Saltation
As the news struck about Baen buying both Fledgling and Saltation, we had a flurry of inquiries from people who had, or thought they had, pre-ordered one or the other, or both. As things have settled out, some folks wanted two copies of Fledgling but had subscribed for three, and some wanted both Fledgling and Saltation but had actually only named one when they ordered.
What this means is that we still have room for a few more pre-orders of Fledgling -- well, maybe for a few dozen orders. If you want a pre-order for Fledgling, please do it this month. Even this week, if you can.
Meanwhile, there are (only!) 510 pre-orders of Saltation left -- meaning some people have pre-ordered Fledgling and have yet to pre-order Saltation. Since the authors will be quite busily writing the new Liaden novel as well as whipping the two Theo books into shape over the coming months, clearing the paperwork out of the way will make it easier for everyone.
If you want a copy of Fledgling please write to Sharon at fledgling@korval.com to make sure there arestill books available.
If you are subscribing by mail via check or money order, mail to Sharon Lee, PO Box 707, Waterville, ME 04903 -- and make the check out to Sharon, please.
**Unless you told me that you wanted two/three/four/eight books, or you gave a/several gift subscriptions.
