Sign-ups for my class fell short by two students, and so it's been canceled. Argh.

Also?  Realized that today is my sister's birthday and that I didn't manage to get the card in the mail.  Me for the phone in a few, I think.

In other news, I've been very industrious today, baking, cleaning off the countertop, waxing brushing the cat, doing two loads of laundry (so, all right -- towels.  Sue me.), and all kinds of other things that are neither writing nor filling out the long, involved form that needs to be done.  It's not that I mind filling out forms, exactly; it's more that I mind having to re-enter stuff that already exists in a perfectly accessible format that happens not to be the other guy's preferred format.  It's probably a control thing.

For those Second Lifers who have been wondering why there's a HUGE honking quasi-Japanese house on the land where the merry-go-round is supposed to be -- the Second Childhood Carousel has been relocated to Friends of Liad Park in beautiful downtown Clay.  Stop by, take a ride -- or three -- enjoy the waterfall, feed the koi.

Started The Privilege of the Sword yesterday, and been sneaking pages out of it all day.  Probably won't finish tonight, but it's tempting.

You should organize an online class! Come on, give some of us a shot at participating even if we can't get there :-) How many do you need for a class?

Incidentally, you don't have one of those hairless cats do you? I could see them being waxed. Not sure that the normal furry really needs waxing even if they are going for the bikini look, though. Unless you are talking about waxing their whiskers so that they can curl them better?

Waxed cats. Sounds like something that deserves a video on that America's Favorite Home Videos program - or maybe just YouTube?

You're not the first person to suggest this, and I'd be glad to take a swing at it. The problem is a failure of imagination on my part. I need to talk to friends who do on-line critique groups and on-line classes to see how they manage.

Mozart's whiskers are already curled like a Spanish grandee's. Scrabbles whiskers are -- *looks over shoulder* too short to take a curl.

"Waxing the cat," "vacuuming the cat," "polishing the ice cubes" -- are all writer-speak for "not writing." [livejournal.com profile] kinzel and I have pins that depict a cat being vacuumed, which is the image the folks at rec.arts.sff.composition chose to represent themselves.

I know waxing the cat should be taken with a dash of salt, but it almost sounds like it should mean something, doesn't it? When you wax your car, it really means something, right?

So if you are waxing your cat, what does it mean? With a hairless cat, you are probably trying to make them a little more attractive or at least shiny. Bikini waxing -- ouch! Waxing whiskers. Those were three I could think of offhand. Oh, maybe you are dousing them with floor wax so that when they go sliding across the floor, they polish it?

There's that waxing loquacious business, but I'm not sure how that could apply to cats, unless they are spreading out?

And having done a great job of waxing the cats, even if I don't have any physical cats, I should probably get back to work, eh?

Thanks! Anytime you need help waxing cats, give a yell. Glad to help.
