Weather Underground reports another earthquake at Bar Harbot, this one at 4.2 on the Richter scale.

That's the second earthquake in a week(?), and doubles the number of earthquakes in Maine since I've been living in-state.

Um. There's a reason I'm not living in California. Just sayin'.

EDITED TO ADD

DECEMBER 17, 2014:  Deleted Kalimeg's comment because it's apparently very, very important to a woman who is interested in earthquakes that the link is dead.  She's written to me several times about this (yes, about a dead link in a reply to a blog entry that's eight years old), wanting me to alter the link to one she's provided, which naturally I can't do.  I hope this gives her peace, poor soul.

Whoa, I didn't even know you could get earthquake info on Weather Underground, I couldn't find it.

I take it Isaac is far enough out to sea not to influence anything there?

Earthquakes are fun. You can get a roller coaster ride in the comfort of your own hotel room... the higher, the better!

Hah! It's all this kitchen talk!

When you get quakes in the middle of a plate, doesn't that suggest a cracked plate?

Could be a crackpot, but those are pretty common.

Check the big one in Boston history (1755? Here's the link I found - http://www.boston.com/news/globe/magazine/articles/2006/05/28/bostons_earthquake_problem/ )

Keep your hardhat on.

Wife felt it up here. I was sitting next to the stereo and missed the jolt in the tympani...

The reports waffle between 4.2 and 3.4 rating -- not sure which is correct.

Huh. I remember four or more earthquakes when I was growing up in West Minot. None of them were any big deal, no more shaking than we got from a Mac truck going by, but I do remember enough of them to have the impression that Maine gets earthquakes all the time.

I spent, until recently, the last 11 years living in Southern California and felt 2 earthquakes the entire time. I only noticed them because I was sitting still.
