rolanni: (dragon)

A series of disturbing dreams last night left behind a lingering malaise that I couldn't shake. Wasn't helped by having to completely rearrange my brain in order to start a long-needed website revamp. Or by a chirpy letter from the local arts folken inviting me to come meet "real Maine authors" (as opposed to imaginary Maine authors, I suppose) next Saturday. Or by the untimely and tragic death of the stained glass dragon that has hung from the ceiling in my office for many years.

On the plus side, I did actually get some revision done on Carousel Tides. With any luck, I'll be able to get a good chunk finished over the weekend.

We continue to get inquiries regarding ebook editions of our work. Rest assured that we will Let the World Know just as soon as we have anything substantial to announce.

And -- on that website revision. What would you -- yes, you, over there behind the potted palm -- want to see on a Sharon Lee website?

You need to send them a "what am I, chopped liver?" response. Or perhaps bill yourself as a fantasy Maine writer.

Sorry about your dragon.

I actually did do that. I think I might have been able to control my Bad Angel, had the letter not begun with: "When was the last time YOU spoke to a real Maine author?"

Seeing as I speak with a real Maine author multiple times every day, it was just Too Good a straight line to pass up...

How badly damaged is the dragon? I work in stained glass, and I've repaired a few over the years as well. Glass splinters = no hope, but broken pieces with general shape intact is fixable, though the glass color probably won't match perfectly.

How badly damaged is the dragon?

It looks pretty much completely busted to me. The glass in one wing is broken, which might be fixable. But. The weld at the base of that wing has snapped, which to my untutored eye seems like the Kiss of Death. Steve thinks otherwise and has suggested that it be taken to the glass studio in Waterville for a second opinion.

Welds are the easiest thing to fix! A bit of solder, and they are good as new. Get it checked.

I would get that second opinion. It still sounds fixable to me; the weld can be re-soldered, although a wing-tip to wing-tip support wire/rod may be necessary for structural integrity. The question may be cost, alas.

If the verdict is against your poor dragon, would you contact me before doing anything irrevocable? I'm a sucker for a challenge....

What happened to the dragon? How was it damaged?

I like pictures of you - you look like a sensible, thoughtful, intelligent and amusing person. Not glamorous, but comfortable and conversible.

Would e-books include the earlier volumes of the Liad saga?

What happened to the dragon?

The dragon was suspended from the ceiling via a brass chain attached to a plant hook. Steve bumped the dragon, it swung 'round, the hook came out of the ceiling, and the whole thing went crashing down to the floor.

I like pictures of you...

I can probably come up with a photo that won't scare the children for the bio page, but a whole website full of pictures of me would get pretty boring pretty fast. Pictures of Mozart, now...

Would e-books include the earlier volumes of the Liad saga?

Yup. We're trying to place the ebook inventory originally at Embiid, which included all the Liaden novels and most of the short stories, among other things, like Barnburner, stories not in the Liaden Universe(R), and stories written by Steve or me.

real maine scientists?

Apparently these guys are in Manie too.

Yeah, they're over in Buckfield. Which kinda explains how they got into the whole Coke and Mentos project in the first place. Not all that much to do in Buckfield...

I second getting a second opinion from the glass works in WTVL.
They do some really good work there. My wish list includes a replacement for my little stained glass window.....someday.

Real Maine Authors? I got that note from the
Hardy Girls/Healthy Women list. I rather thought that they should be able to come up with more than just the three they have on board.....
You guys, Tom Easton, Gerry Boyle, J Hetley, That Colby Prof (couple of those, actually) Mimi Carpenter, Be hard put to NAME them all!
Children's Book Cellar Maine section is certainly full of them.

Web site? I second more pictures of you and that cutey hubby of yours. More you with your furry friends too; both real and stuffed.
I would love to see some pics of your Tea Party at the Cons.

CU soon?
How bout dinner some evening?

Nice icon.

Sympathies about the dragon. My sister bought me a simple hanging piece of a bird -- my cat saw something fluttering around the window and went right into it. Cat fine -- stained glass not so fine...

I should get it fixed, I think simple glass replacement is what's needed.
