It's that merriest of days...

...the beginning of the SRM fiscal year. The day's festivities have included inventory (performed very ably by kinzel, closing the old books out, and opening the new books. Yet before me lies the ritual cleaning out of the file drawer and the printing out of last year's ledger pages, but -- that ain't gonna happen today.

Another thing that ain't gonna happen today is finishing up Chapter Twelve of Fledgling. I was so sure I was going to be done with that this weekend and make a beginning on Chapter Thirteen. Silly writer. You know that any scene with Daav yos'Phelium in it is going to go everywhere but where you want it to go. I do so love Daav, but that doesn't stop me from wanting to throttle him...

kinzel and I did take a couple hours off last night to venture across the river to the big city of Waterville, to attend the Knock On Wood Guitarfest at the Opera House. There numerous Guitar Heroes entertained and entranced us, from the mannered and exquisite Ed Gerhard; to the off-the-wall and always enjoyable The Waybacks, and self-proclaimed surfer demi-god Gary Hoey. In a rare victory of commonsense over abandon, we did not cross the street to the blues club and continue partying until the wee hours, but it was a near thing.

On the weather front, we're looking for snow and/or sleet on the overnight, snow and/sleet tomorrow, snow and/or sleet...well, you get the idea. What fun.

And now I'm going to go rest my poor aching head...

With hints of forthcoming chapters dancing in his eyes . . . Daav's in chapter 12, eh?

So Daav is in Chapter 12, eh? Must not forget, must not forget, though Chap. 10 was disappointing in its brevity. Is there a plot, to have it in for Theo? Her mentor doesn't seem to have heard of Professor V's observations. And Roni is a thoroughly nasty young girl, I hate her passionately. Theo is very restrained in what she says to her. And what kind of a shot did Theo get for her sore ribs, some kind of tranquilizer? And all the pressuring to get her to take drugs for her "clumsiness". Poor abused child. Maybe there is something on the other side? They can't all have it in for Theo. Ah, well, these things will unfold in due time. Maybe this is the kind of thing that will be rewritten for the final book. Great to see it being written on the screen!
