Thus far today I have negotiated (in so far as there is any, which is to say, there isn't) with the good folks at Your Federal Gummint(tm), the Department of Mortgages Department. As expected, our monthly payment has gone up by about fifty percent, this being the reward for having achieved Gainful Employment, and which is still cheaper than paying for health insurance as a freelancer in the Great State o'Maine.

I've also chatted with the folks at the Grant Receiving Agency, who are confused, but perhaps not terminally so, fielded a buncha email, played flying mouse* with Mozart, took a too-brief and soon-to-be-repeated walk out in the blue, blowy day, and made a first pass at the mid-month SRM bookkeeping, which has become infinitely easier now that PayPal is providing Real, Grownup Financial Statements. More bookkeeping is in my near future, then -- to work! on Duainfey.

In the wake of our several Ebay auctions, ongoing tripjar and Fledgling donations, among other kindnesses, I just want to say -- you guys are swell, and we really, deeply appreciate your support. Group hug. Really.

Edited to add: A review of Gunshy, as seen in the Bangor Daily News. Scroll down the page -- waaayyyy down the page. Thanks to our own [livejournal.com profile] jhetley for pointing this out.

*Flying mouse is a furry, featureless stuffed pillow about the size of a largish mouse/smallish rat, which is attached by a string to a thin, highly flexible plastic tube. There are small beads in the tube, so that it makes an enticing swwwwwiiiisssshhhhhh when you move it, and the "mouse" has a fluttery "tail" made out of four long, silky threads. The mouse can be played in the air or on the floor. Mozart adores the "flying mouse" variation, while Scrabble prefers the to play close to the floor.

Yeah, but I turned your title into two words. Sorry.

Thinking about it, I don't know how to pronounce Hellspark, given the internal aids to remembering it.

So maybe we can do the same with Guns Hy? If people go looking for Gunshy, Gun Shy, or maybe Guns Hy, at least they are looking, right?

Silliness before morning tea :-)

I should mention that...

...I did not find the whodunnit predictable. It was a case of why, and also...the root of the problem, perhaps serious in Maine, is a non-issue here. (I will not expand on this, fearing spoilers.) We non-Maine-ers were chasing red herrings everywhere.

I did like the accidental way Jen falls into "Hummm..." It was quite real in how I could imagine my own self getting into such a state. On good days, I ask too many questions, you see....

And Jen and Fox's growing friendship (yes! In slow motion, like it can often happen -- his last name, OMG...) with a hint of possible expansion is a delight.

But perhaps I am biased....

I am not really anonymous - you have my name and pertinent info - anyway, I have a comment for Kinzel, as when I try to comment on his site, I can't convince the program I'm not a computer. Those letters and numbers can be hard to read, and when I try to turn on the sound, the speaker usually has been turned down or off by my grandson, who is staying with us this summer. But to Kinzel: Thank you for the NASA site info. We were all outside the house last night and really delighted in our viewing of the ISS. May or may not see it tonight, probably will tomorrow. Lots of trees around here. Thanks again. Added it to my bookmarks. Did you build or or buy the mouse for the cats? If bought, where? Following Fledgling devoutly.
