Up at Is-This-Hour-Absolutely-Necessary? to travel with [livejournal.com profile] kinzel into Waterville, there to obtain long-overdue haircuts, and thence to the post office to divest ourselves of various SRM Publisher orders and to pick up what mail there was, including, alas, a rejection slip for a short story. This makes two-on-two for the rejection slips over the last couple weeks, a trend I would very much like to reverse.

Back home to some bookkeeping and checkbook balancing, salmon a la [livejournal.com profile] kinzel for lunch, a call to the hospital to pre-register, and a spot of flying mouse with Mozart.

By way of housekeeping, I refilled the hummingbird feeder, but left the oriole feeder -- which the squirrel has using as his private soda fountain -- empty. This is not as harsh as it sounds, since the oriole apparently has some identification issues and prefers to drink out of the hummingbird feeder. And the hummer? Why he's busy in the butterfly garden, of course...

Speaking of Ebay... I have in my office closet, taking up far too much room, two posters that Meisha Merlin took around to conventions -- they're about 36x24 (inches), mounted on coreboard. One is a the cover for Balance of Trade; the other is the cover for Crystal Dragon. Balance of Trade is backed with plexiglass. Both have some travel dings, and packing them so that they wouldn't acquire more on their way to a new owner isn't going to be easy. I'm pretty sure that it would depress bidding to insist that the purchaser pick the posters up in Waterville, Maine. Could be we just oughta scrap 'em.

In weather news, it's currently 73(F)/23(C) with 88% humidity. The little weather gizmo on the kitchen table assures me that this is "comfortable," by way of a smiley face on the dial.

The weather gizmo has a cruel streak.

Go ahead and ebay them. Make sure that you explain the shipping issue and estimate the shipping appropriately. You'd be surprised how much things like that could bring on ebay - or maybe you wouldn't considering how much the limited edition pin got and how fast the buy it now pins went.

Can you make those posters roll-able? Or is the plexiglass a permanent fixture?

I'd e-bay 'em anyway. Be sure to include the honest commentary like you did here, and see what some of your slavering fans will do for you. You might be happily surprised.

I can't actually tell how they've got the plexiglass attached, but -- rollable? No. The coreboard is a good 1/4 inch thick; nice and strong.

I would ebay them. Jsut get some large cardboard and sandwich in between two sheets and explain all the damage ahead of time.

Do you have a local picture framing shop that might take pity on you? You might be able to scrounge up some old shipping boxes that fit posters that way.

It may be blasphemous, but might I suggest you bring the posters to a con and try to sell them . . .

so did you get a picture of the yeti?

come on, you can tell us. Was it hiding in the alley or just boldly walking in the crowd? Knocking on car windows and asking for spare change?

I interpreted that the yeti(s) got barbered and then went back home to have salmon for lunch.

Well, that's possible. Although I'm holding out hope for a yeti wandering the backstreets of the town (is Waterville big enough to have backstreets?). It seems like a reasonable addition to the tourist attractions of Maine. Just whimsy.
