Monday, January 7th, 2008 08:40 pmIt was 32F (0C) this morning when I left for work. The snow was sublimating, making for shifting white curtains of fog as I drove in toward the city. The river road was filled to overflowing with extra-white cotton balls, and making the turn into the road was a touch harrowing, because I couldn't see a handspan in front of my nose. Still, journey's end with no mishaps, and a glorious glimpse of soft rose sky over the fog-shrouded town of Winslow before I ducked inside the library and took up my duties for the day.
The funny thing about living in Maine is that I used to think that 32F was cold. This morning as I walked up from the parking lot to the library, my coat unzipped and my gloves in my pockets, I thought about how warm and springlike the morning was.
