Back in the saddle again

In all the (hopefully-now-behind-us) confusion, disturbance and shortness of funds, I fell off the wagon at gym, which was not a good idea at all. Since a membership to the on-campus gym is one of the benefits of working at the college, I went on down this afternoon and got myself acquainted.
My last gym was a genteel, girly place. The college gym -- not so much. The place was packed. There were people throwing enormous weights into the air and catching them one-handed, people hanging head-down from equipment I don't know the name of and wish never to approach any closer than I did today, and people doing power-lunges down the thin rows between the various pieces of equipment, oblivious to any other foot traffic.
I did find the weights and the elliptical and other familiar objects, and had a nice, thorough evaluation by the resident fitness expert, who also showed me how to modify some of the weight exercises for home consumption. I hope to start getting myself back into the groove.
It was sunny! today, and felt warm, though Steve assures me it wasn't, particularly, and I managed to stay awake all day. Go, me.

Date: 2008-01-24 01:54 am (UTC)I changed my time at my gym and am happy to say lucked into a more girly and geriatric hour. Much nicer (for me) than those disturbing hanging upside down men dripping sweat!
