Spent the day updating webpages, paying bills, and writing, in which endeavors Mozart fully partook, lying on my lap for much of the web-building and writing bits, sporadically contesting ownership of the mouse and the enter key. This week's exciting chapter of Saltation was mine to write, as Steve takes his turn with the Duainfey CEM. Talk about creative whiplash...

I should, mind you, have done today what I did yesterday -- i.e. goofed off and iced my knee. Doubtless, I will pay for uncharacteristic burst of industry later. Hey, at least I didn't run a marathon.

It snowed today, though as a winter storm it was pretty much of a fizzle. I am Officially Tired of Snow, now. Take it away, take it away! I want daffodils, and I want them now!

Also, I now have "The Bells of St. Clemens" stuck in my head, a poem I haven't thought about, literally, in years. I place the blame for this directly upon [livejournal.com profile] papersky's [livejournal.com profile] zorinth, and I will not soon forget it. I fear.

not dafs but flowers anyway

Cannot help with the dafs because I'm too far north to have them now either but this witchhazel might help. My house is surrounded by them because I need something in bloom at this time of year. Chinese (a yellow flower) starts blooming Feb. 1-ish and this "Diane" has it flowers open for March 1st every year.

Fledgling Donations

Sat down last night after virtuously completing all my Must Do list to take care of my Fledgling donation to find that it was CLOSED. It was 8:40 PM PDT and I erroneously assumed that Saturday the 15th was Saturday the 15th until 11:59 PM EDT. Not so, I guess. So, my fault for being a procrastinator but I would like to get straight what the rules are. 10:00 PM EDT or close of business day 6:00PM EDT? Or just be a little more on time, I guess. Sigh. In this case, the rules were that I didn't feel like staying up until midnight to manually change over the page; my leg hurt, and so I went to bed early, changing the page before I did so. Steve and I don't have Staff; we do everything that gets done around here -- including packing orders, building and uploading webpages, maintaining databases, doing the day-job, writing -- ourselves, so I kinda feel like we can sometimes ask people to cut us an hour's slack.

Or just be a little more on time, I guess.

Well, yanno. We did first announce the March 15 cutoff date on February 1 (http://rolanni.livejournal.com/318492.html). I do appreciate that amassing $25 sometimes isn't easy, so we were trying to work with folks.

I'm sorry you got caught short, and I do appreciate your interest in our work.

You are staff! All those cats must have staff worthy of their station.

Didn't mean to come across as Demanding Reader. Too techidiotic to realized that you have to manually change over the page. Totally understand that you would shut down early with your knee and everything else you have to do. Mea culpa, mea culpa -- would an express load of daffodils and daphne do for an apology? We have spring up here 'cause I think we're lower down than you. By the way, FMI, how does your Maine Coon fit in your lap? Ours keeps slithering off, here and there.

I can understand that you were disappointed.

There's probably a Better Way. However, if there is, I wot it not. And daffodils are always welcome.

By the way, FMI, how does your Maine Coon fit in your lap?

Mozart folds up pretty small for a seventeen pound goof. Plus, he can -- and does, ahem -- spread out onto the desk and keyboard when he's monitoring the writing. The Big Blue Chair is a recliner, so he can -- and does -- stretch down the whole length of my legs. He occasionally lets portions of himself flop over the edges, but it doesn't seem to discommode him any.
