...it's not that I don't have a sense of humor (which I've been told); I have a lively, if occasionally inappropriate, sense of humor. It's because April Fool's Day has, IMNSHO, become a forum for abusive behavior couched as "jokes," which allows the perpetrator to take and hold the dubious moral high ground of "You can't take a joke!"

And besides, today is the Anniversary of an Event far closer to my heart than the tedious demonstration that the People Are An Idiot.

Today marks the Thirtieth Anniversary of the merging of the Lee and Miller households into the Lee-Miller Household, aka The Cat Farm and Confusion Factory.

Let there be music, wine, ice cream, and dancing!

Congrats on your anniversary! Also, I am not a fan of April Fool's Day either. It makes me rather cranky, actually.

Some how April Fool's Day never made it into a 'crazy stupid joke day' in my set. gentle jokes from kids... that's it. I can understand why other people hate it so much when I hear about some of the behaviours displayed.

I'd rather say 'Happy Anniversary', anyway.

I'll take some of the music, wine, and ice cream, with a pass on the dancing. White men, and all that...

Congrats to you and Steve. Damn few of us make it to the 30 year mark.

And I'm going to have to be the dissenting voice here. I love April Fools, but that's because my geeky friends tend to intellectual and amusing April Fools jokes rather than abusive behavior. I also love all the websites that do different things, like Nestle changing their Butterfinger bar to The Finger (http://www.thefingerbar.com/), Google allowing you to send email back in time (http://mail.google.com/mail/help/customtime/index.html) or World of Warcraft releasing a new Bard class using a Guitar Hero interface.

You're not the only one. I like April Fool's Day pranks that are actually funny, for values of funny where funnymean.

Much agreed re April Fool's Day. There are some really funny pranks, pulled in recognition of the day, but there are also the really annoying ones that are just plausible enough to be believed, and I really can't stand those.

Congratulations for making it to 30 years in a world where it seems as if divorce has gone from being considered widely reprehensible to being just another mild social faux pas, like filing for bankruptcy.

The only April 1 'joke' that I ever really enjoyed was when the late Robert J Lurtsema played a recording of frogs instead of his usual birds at the start of his radio programme.

Many many congratulations!!! I am laughing madly, as this is indeed my and my husbands 30 anniversary. There is nothing better than an anniversary one can remember because it is a wonderful joke!!
Many happy more. I would type better, but he just treated me to excellent Mexican food, and 2 glasses of wine.
Salud,

Surely this event needs chocolate, if only as body oil. No, wait....

Many congrats. W & I will have to make our mid-eighties/late-seventies to equal this!
