As frequent readers of this journal will recall, on Thursday, October 9, the evening before Albacon begins, Sharon Lee and Steve Miller (with Eric Flint) will be signing books and entertaining passers-by at Flights of Fantasy Bookstore.

We have today heard from Flights of Fantasy that an announcement of our signing is posted on Facebook here: http://www.new.facebook.com/event.php?eid=44652676544 , and asking us to tell all our friends.

I hope that I am not too bold in assuming that I do have friends on Facebook, though I do not, myself, partake. If one -- or several -- of those friends would like to peruse the announcement, attend the event, or, indeed, cordially invite their friends to attend the event, that would be Awfully Nice.

Thanks in advance.

FWIW - it looks like this http://www.aist-nara.ac.jp/~mbarker/photos/Event.gif (That's a gif, so clicking on links and such won't work).

And I posted it in both of the Liaden Universe groups that I know about on Facebook.

What is the protocol for a book signing, since I've never been to one before...it is de regeur to bring my copy(s) from home, or only those purchased then & there are eligible?

We're always happy to sign people's books -- old, well-read copies as much as the newest child in the tribe. The bookstore of course would wish you to buy a book at the event, but you're not compelled to do so.

At Flights of Fantasy, we'll also be reading, and if this event follows the model of other such, there will be some folks who will come to hear the story, and take themselves off before the festivities with the pens begin. Others will arrive after the reading, and want only to have their books signed.

At convention signings, there is often a request that readers who have more than 3/5/6 books to be signed will return to the back of the line, in order to be fair to those waiting behind them. I don't expect that we'll have anything like that situation at FoF.

Do come! It'll be a lot of fun.

I plan to, and thank for being so patient with a newcomer. I figured if I was going to be given the cut direct for bringing in a book, I might as well know about it ahead of time!
