Hex is back from his adventure at the vet's, somewhat confused and jittery, which I lay at the feet of the painkillers. We have Baytril (antibiotic) pills, to give by mouth, and drops to be administered in both ears, starting tomorrow. Not looking forward to that, actually, his ear's gotta smart. Of course, we also have painkiller drops. I guess the drill is: painkiller, wait, ear drops, pill.

The operation went well; the polyp was removed clean, and the vet is pleased. I'm thinking that Hex's hearing may improve somewhat, since the growth was obstructing the canal in his good ear.

He's snacking a little now; I hope he'll curl up in his chair and get some sleep...

The Maine Coons send good health vibes to Puma. Polyps aren't fun and I'm glad the vet got it all. Hope he's back on his feet soonest!

We've started the process of multiplying Maine Coons in the house. :) Dawn's started labor, so hopefully before the night is over there will be one more coonlet in the world. I'm a basket case, the mom is unfazed. :)

Only one new coonlet? That seems a bit sparse.

Best wishes to Hex (and to his caregivers)

Yes, but to make up for the sparsity her sister, who's due a few days hence, will have 5 to bring joy to the world. :)

They do that sometimes. I've never been lucky enough to have a full Coon, although I once had a rescue Coon mix (poor baby had been through a lot!). I hope that everything goes smoothly!!

BTW, I'm in Smurfreesboro, where are you?

Should there be another item on that list? After the final pill, add "reward?" At least when I was raising dogs, having some treat or at least a good petting helped to make putting up with the indignities of pills and such a bit more acceptable?

painkiller, wait, ear drops, pill.

Hopefully Hex wont go spastic on you or you'll have to add painkillers for yourself.

I'm not sure about 'coon cats but your common house cat is notoriously un-amused by medication.

In our house, sticking pills into Gerber turkey/chicken/veal/beef/lamb meat baby food turns 'pill giving time' into 'cats mob caregiver time' because they all want the baby food.

In my household it is separate baby food from pill. Swallow baby food. Leave pill somewhere inconvenient where person will find hours later.

We've been having to pill one of our Grumpy Old Men (we have two and they despise each other... ::sigh::). I always give him soft food afterwards and the other cats try to mob us when we're pilling him. Which just makes him grumpier.

Once upon a time after a bad kenneling experience I had to give my three cats antibiotics twice a day for 10 days. Its been a couple of years and mostly I'm OK now, occasionally there are the flashbacks but that's to be expected. I can't relate to any cat medicating experience that doesn't look like something Stephen King could have written.
