Updatery: Books Goin' Like Hotcakes

We have currently placed 977 copies of Saltation. That means there are only 223 still lookin' for a home. The PayPal button is still active. When we hit 1,200 books placed, we will take the payment button down.

In other news, have you ever noticed how some love songs are Positively Creepy? Yesterday, for the first time in a long, long time, I heard Bob Seger's You'll Accompany Me; I'm telling you, it gave me the willies. And not in a good way. Which is what comes of listening to the lyrics.

And, yanno -- I don't know what Charon does with the money. It never occurred to me to wonder. I mean, he must have expenses, right? Rope? Poles? Lunch?

Charon uses the money to pimp out his pad and purchase the latest music & books. No, really. There are actually two Charons. They're identical twins. Shhhhhhhh. Don't tell anyone. They split shift and switch up when no one is looking so it seems like the same guy is there 24/7/365. There actually used to be a third Charon but he died from rheumatic fever. It was very tragic. Especially because it means that the other two Charons can't take vacations anymore. ::sigh::

Indeed, it's quite sad. Howsoever, they have been looking for someone who is close to them in looks who might be willing to have plastic surgery and take the job of Charon III. Should this work out, they might even try for Charon IV which would lessen their workload even more. The only problem is keeping this all quiet. ::nods solemnly::

Absolutely yes on the creepy song lyrics! I'm not familiar with the one you cite, but there are plenty of other "love" songs out there that are needy and obsessive, at the least. I don't imagine the lyricists meant them to be creepy...but they sure can sound that way.

And some things get misread as love songs, that were never intended as such--I remember hearing an interview with Sting back in the 80s, in which he said he really found it disturbing that so many people seemed to think "Every Breath You Take" was romantic.

"Nights on Broadway" by the Bee Gees. Totally a stalker song. I made my wife listen to the lyrics last time it came on and she was quite surprised. "Gotta Get A Message To You" [Bee Gees again] is a guy on death row.

Sometimes we know all the lyrics, but don't really pay attentiuon to the words.

My husband says that in addition to rope, poles, and lunch, he uses the money to buy pitch for the bottom of the boat.

He also said that Charon needs Sharin' Charons. (in reference to my post)
